About

Quick facts: Views across the entire port city of Valparaiso open up from this promenade built in the 19th century. In 1999, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site together with the heart of the old town.

Highlights: When standing at the end of the promenade and looking down, the mosaic of colorful houses built on the city's hills is clearly visible. The best time to come here is at sunset, when the tones of the sky reflect directly in the waters of the Pacific Ocean.

Insider tips

  • Locals come here to relax only after 5 PM, the mornings are quiet and peaceful.
  • It is worth bringing a camera because of the viewpoint at the end of the promenade.
  • Avoid weekend evenings, when larger crowds may gather.
  • Combine your visit with a walk around Cerro Concepcion or Cerro Alegre, both are on the neighboring hills.
